In these paintings I build successive layers of abstract marks to form
a rich interplay of color, shape and rhythm. A sense of space and movement is created through the mark-making process and elements of geometry, pattern, and color coalesce to hint at a self-organizing system. This work finds direction in the immaterial energy underlying our existence – light contains energy which animates particles to form bonds that shape matter and a system of life. There is mystery and beauty in the unfolding process of life and I find a parallel in the creation of a painting, in the creative spark that begins a process of discovery and realization.
