Born in Seattle in 1958 John grew to find the environment of the Pacific Northwest to be a source of inspiration to his burgeoning creative endeavors. For John, art has always been a natural way to express a deep emotional tie to the area and its intricate web of life. Referencing the physical and life sciences, his work strives to reflect the interconnectedness of a complex ecology while conveying a sense of the beauty and mystery inherent in the unfolding process of life.
John received a B.A. in Art from the University of Washington and an A.A. degree in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Seattle. He has exhibited his work throughout the United States and has paintings in numerous private, public, and corporate collections including Microsoft, the Swedish Medical Group, and the University of Oregon.
John is a 2018-2019 recipient of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant, pkf.org
